It was always good to watch you with your exasperation and dogged determination. You were a symbol of all those people who got us into space in the first place. Now you are up there with the stars where you belong. Good man Jimmy you'll finally get your wish. Miss you, but I envy you. If you get a chance, Beam me up, Scotty.....

I know you have reach your final frontier wishfully; rather than ashes to ashes, dirt to dirt, it is elements to elements, back to space, where we all came from. When they spoke of the Great Architect bringing in his ideas for the greater scheme of things, they should have mentioned the Great Engineer who makes it all work together! And when they spoke of Jimmy "Scotty" Doohan, it was also the warmth of persona which shines through providing the soul. Enjoy the journey there!

"Jimmy Doohan was a hearty, down-to-earth guy. Now, he will be more than that. He has asked that his remains be shot out to space. That is so you, Jimmy. When all of us who loved you look up at the vastness of the twinkling night sky, we'll know that you are truly there among the stars, beaming down at us from the heavens with that wonderful, sparkling smile of yours."

"I’d use my influence with Star Trek’s numerous advisers at NASA to ensure my ashes were launched from the Kennedy Space Center…I think it’s just the drama of being able to leave the Earth like that."

"I think if anyone really deserves to go into space who wanted to, perhaps it was Gene. After all Star Trek is our 20th Century mythology. What a marvelous place to go. There’s nothing that’s going to be in your way, and I would love to just keep on going out into space."

Next Mission: Voyager 01 – The Enterprise Flight
The first Celestis Voyager Service – currently scheduled for launch later in 2022 - will be named Enterprise Flight in special dedication to those on board, including honored participants Gene and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry and James Doohan.
In 1976, responding to a nationwide write-in campaign of Star Trek fans, President Gerald Ford renamed the first Space Shuttle “Enterprise,” hosting the cast and creator at the Sept. 17th Palmdale, CA ceremonial rollout of Enterprise. This merging of science fiction with reality using the global appeal of Star Trek is once again taking place as Celestis launches Voyager 01 – The Enterprise Flight.
Mission Details
The Voyager Memorial Spaceflight Service launches capsules with cremated remains or DNA on a mission into deep space – beyond the Earth-Moon system on an infinite journey of tribute and remembrance.
Celestis is working with providers to launch our Voyager service in 2022 and beyond. Our Voyager Service providers typically utilize a lunar fly-by boost to achieve escape from the Earth-Moon system, placing the Voyager capsules into a deep space trajectory. Details, including opportunities to participate in pre-launch activities, will be released soon.

"We also remember Len as the serious one -- from a young age he built his own rockets and did a lot of reading on starships and space exploration, which foretold his fascination with science fiction and Star Trek. We can all rest assured that Len's spirit has found the way at last."
