John Robert and Mary Kathryn Cherry

"Every journey begins with a dream"

In 1982,  John Cherry, a Space Coast funeral director, and two other space enthusiasts, Jim Kuhn and Beauford Franklin dreamed of the idea of launching cremated remains into space.

A very special name was needed for this new enterprise and Mary “Kay” was given the task. With a dictionary in hand she started with the A’s and when she found the word Celestis, she looked no further.

Charlie Chafer and his team at Celestis turned this dream into a reality.

It is with great appreciation that John and Mary are a part of this Celestis journey.
