In Loving Memory of
Harry Henry Rogers
December 6, 1951 – June 22, 2024
A Life of Quiet Strength and Celestial Wonder
Harry Henry Rogers was a man of quiet strength, steady hands, and a generous heart. Born in Germany while his father Vernon served as a U.S. soldier, Harry began life with a sense of purpose and resilience that stayed with him through every chapter.
Harry was raised by Vernon and Ilse Rogers, alongside his beloved brother Ralph—who would later serve in the U.S. Air Force. He grew up in Castle Rock, Washington, and later moved to Kelso, where he met Carol Hicks, the love of his life, in the 8th or 9th grade. Their love story spanned decades, beginning in youth and growing stronger with every passing year.
With a full-ride scholarship in hand, Harry and Carol made the brave decision to move away from family and friends so he could attend the University of Arizona’s top-ranked Astronomy program. It was a leap of faith built on trust, love, and Harry’s lifelong passion for the stars.
Together, they raised two daughters, Tiffany and Terra, and built a life filled with love, laughter, music, and discovery. Harry found joy in the simple things—playing his guitar, helping others without hesitation, and always, always gazing up at the sky.
Even in his final days, his telescope stood ready, pointed toward the heavens.
When Carol passed on Father’s Day in 2017—just shy of their 48th anniversary—Harry carried her memory with quiet grace. His own passing came in June 2024, followed just five months later by the sudden loss of his brother Ralph. The two brothers, now reunited among the stars.
A Final Journey Among the Stars
In honor of the one-year anniversary of his passing, Harry will embark on one last celestial voyage. Through a Celestis Memorial Flight, his ashes will be launched into orbit—his spirit lifted to the stars he loved so dearly.
We’re beaming you up, Dad.
You will never be forgotten.
We love you, Papa.
Love you to the moon and back.
