Douglas Joe Wagner

"To making your dreams come true. Love your baby <3"
1987 - 2024

Douglas Joe Wagner was taken suddenly from his family at the age of 37 on October 21, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained from a commercial vehicle accident in Zanesville, Ohio while working. Doug, or as many knew him, Duck, was born July 23, 1987, in Thomaston, Georgia. His parents, Mike and Kathy Wagner, moved to Chandlersville, Ohio while Doug was young and he grew up there graduating from John Glenn High School in 2006. He was a member of the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church. Doug was taken from this world doing what you loved most, driving garbage truck for Kimble company. Doug was a huge fan of bluegrass music, spending time with family, and anything NASA.

Doug was proud of the school he had graduated from, which was named after his all-time hero, John Glenn. He could tell you just about anything there was to know about space flight. His main focus was on the Apollo missions. He could tell you dates, locations, what launch pad was used, and which astronauts were aboard each launch. Space flight was a major passion of his. Doug kept binders full of research on each mission. He could explain every part of the Saturn V rocket in detail and when it was used.

His favorite mission was Apollo 11, when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins landed on the moon. When our youngest child was born in 2014, Doug insisted on naming him after his two favorite astronauts, John Glenn and Neil Armstrong. Jonathan Neil was 28 days shy of his 10th birthday when he lost his dad that day. Thanks to Doug, there are many of us out there who truly see the moon a bit differently. For me, I’m always looking for the “Snowman.” It was Doug's dream to one day have the chance to set foot on the moon himself.

In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his wife of ten years Billie Wagner; his children Eric Wagner, Randall Wagner, Jonathan Wagner, and step-daughter Alyssa Bell; his brother and best friend Randall Wagner; maternal grandparents George and Marcia Reynolds; and many more family and friends. Doug was preceded in death and has joined his big brother in heaven, Michael W. Wagner; his paternal grandparents Donna Wickham and Joe Wagner; and a very special uncle, Dwight Reynolds.

Doug's life-long dream was to travel to the moon. During several conversations, he had joking threw in the comment that when he died he wanted to be sent to the moon. Little did any of us know, one day we would be honoring that wish. Although he wasn’t able to make it to the moon during his time here with us, it is the biggest honor of all to be able to make his dream come true now. Knowing no matter where life takes us here on earth, we will always be able to look up and he will be there, shinning bright in the night sky. All I can do is hope that one day we will see each other again.

Till we meet again my love.

Your Baby, Forever~N~Always
