Dorothy Duder

"Love you forever"
1952 - 2022

Dorothy Duder (9 July 1952–1 July 2022; age 69) was the Food Stylist for the entire four-year run of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was the first time in Trek history that a Food Stylist was permanently on the crew, preparing food for the camera. Her creations included all meals served in the mess hall and at the captain's table, retro-Trek food, and alien banquets.

Duder's husband was Academy and Emmy Award-winning Star Trek veteran, artist Doug Drexler. The Duderstadt-class Starship, co-designed by her husband, was named in her honor.

Duder started her career as an extra in film and television, appearing in the drama The Right Stuff (1983, alongside David Clennon and Darryl Henriques), and went on to become a production accountant and producer. She worked as an associate producer on the comedy crime series The Sandra West Diaries (2016-2017). In 1997, she worked as a wardrobe accountant on the sitcom Cybill and also appeared as an extra in the gym in the episode "Some Like It Hot.” The episode also features Jeanne Mori. She made another appearance as a seamstress to Christine Baranski in the penultimate episode of the series, "Cybill in the Morning" (1998), alongside Charles Rocket.

On 1 July 2022, Duder lost her battle with cancer at the age of 69. A grief-stricken Drexler, who himself had only a month earlier been treated for a similar disease, celebrated his late wife's life extensively online.
