Donald Davies

"The stars will shine brighter now!"
1943 - 2023

Donald Charles Davies, of Leland, NC, passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 80. Don was a tremendously giving man who loved his family and friends with his entire heart and every sense of being. A man of strong faith, he thrived in his Bible study groups and would give his last penny to anyone in need. Don had a desire to live like no other, beating the odds time and time again.

Don was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 2, 1943. He graduated from Dormont High School in Pittsburgh and continued on to study business at Tarkio College in Missouri. Don served in the US Army Intelligence Service from 1963 to 1966, with the last two years serving in Asmara, Ethiopia. After his discharge in Ethiopia, Don lived with an African tribe for three months as a missionary. Don was extremely proud of both his time in the service and as a missionary.

Prior to his sudden illness in 1981, Don was a successful businessman in the publication field. He was a member of Crosswinds Church in Leland and had many close friends there.

Don is preceded in death by his parents David “Chuck” Davies and Doris Conley Davies.

Don is survived by his three brothers and their wives: Darrell and Judy Davies, David and Wendy Davies, and Duane and Elaine Davies. His two daughters and their husbands are Heather and Mark Dennehy and Heidi and Steve Chappell. His three beloved granddaughters are Kelsey, Kielan, and Caroline Dennehy.
