Terry was his nickname; he was the middle child of 7 born to Vivan & John Smith. He was born October 12, 1954 in AuSable Forks, New York but eventually the family moved to Cold Spring, N.Y. where the children grew up.
On December 24, 1983, Terrence married his soulmate Mary J Smith, whom he is survived by with their two dogs, Ike and Sugar.
When not working, Terrence enjoyed bowling, fishing, and watching his favorite teams (NY Yankees and Giants) on TV. At the end of his workday, he would sit on the front porch and watch people. And if there was a rocket leaving the Canaveral Space Center he made sure to watch each one when visible from our porch. He would often comment how much he wished he could have been an astronaut and go to space.
Besides his loving wife of almost 41 years, Mary Smith, he is survived by his sons: Jeffery Vega (Kristin), Andrew Sannes (Jenny), Michael Sannes (Stacy) and daughter, Jennifer McChesney (Arthur), brothers Kevin (Karen) and Wayne Smith (Michael) and Sister Nancy Mathews (Russel). He was preceded in death by the late Vivian and John Smith (parents), Jodie Roberts (daughter), Timothy Smith (brother) and, Patricia Horvath and Gloria Odell (sisters).
There was a private viewing for immediate family on September 29, 2024 and on Oct 5th there was an open house memorial at the Smith home, which over 35 family and friends attended.
Mary knew of his love and desire to go to space so as her last goodbye, she decided to send Terry on Celestis Memorial Spaceflights.

My final words:
I cried when you passed away,
I still cry today.
Although I love you dearly,
I could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke my heart to prove to me he only takes the best.
I love you bunches and bunches, forever and ever…
Mary
