Mark D. Guard, 71, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 due to a recent illness.
Born Nov. 14, 1952 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Andrew Guard and Loretta Orr, he graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1970 before studying computer science at Penn State University. He was employed as a systems analyst for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 30 years, prior to retirement.
Mark was preceded in death by one daughter, Selena; and one brother, David.
He is survived by his children, Seth (Erin) Guard, Drexel Hill, Pa.; Katie (Matthew) Regula, Archbald, Pa.; Natalie Matson, Glendale, Ariz.; Rebekah Guard (Sam Fryer), Drexel Hill, Pa.; and Alex (Nicole) Guard, Bethlehem, Pa.; and grandson Steven Guard, Drexel Hill, Pa.
An avid sports fan, Mark always loved discussing statistics, trivia, fantasy leagues, and especially his Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Dolphins. He enjoyed books, science fiction, classic rock, and exploring new restaurants and craft beers. He was also fond of animals and frequently contributed to animal shelters.
Mark followed every Star Trek series created and will now be taking is own journey to space.
