Jonathan David Ray

"We love you more than all the stars in the sky."
1985 - 2020

Jonathan was always a very intelligent and inquisitive kid; always competing with his older brother and sister (and usually beating them in all things math related despite the 4 & 6 year age difference!).  At the age of 5, he was asking to speak with his stock broker about his investments, was already advanced in all his academics and was already showing his love of sci-fi/space/engineering.

After graduating in the top 10 of his high school class, he went on to the University of Virginia to study Biomedical Engineering.  He was determined to find a cure to Crohn’s Disease, which he had struggled with since the age of 15.  Among his boxes of stuff that went with him to college was his Star Trek: The Original Series DVD set and several packages of Oreos - his favorite cookie (maybe even food) ever.

A year after graduating from UVA, he married the love of his life, his high-school sweetheart, Kathryn and settled in to grown-up life.  Through the years, he earned his CPA, worked in asset management, was a deacon at church, but really flourished in the role of father.  He was blessed with 3 beautiful children: Kaitlyn, Samantha and Henry, who carry on his legacy today.

His love of Legos, Halloween, Oreos, all things science and math, Disney, Family and God live on in all of us who had a chance to be blessed by his presence.

Jon - please enjoy the ride you’re about to take.  We hope it’s exactly what you wanted!  We love and miss you.
