Jason Michael Knox

1984 - 2020

Jason was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He was an only child to Mike and Helen Knox, both native Houstonians. Growing up, Jason had a huge passion for aviation, shooting guns, Star Trek, and H1 Hummers. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a Peace Officer. He served Harris County Constables Precinct 5, the City of Spring Valley, then lastly, the Houston Police Department. The City of Houston was his dream. It was the same department his father had worked and where his calling was…..flying in their FOX (helicopter division).

His two favorite things, policing and flying, made him an incredible asset to that division. He received two FLIR awards, multiple letters of commendation, and a life-saving award.

Jason met his wife Keira in 2005. They got married in 2009. Welcomed their first child Cooper in 2013 and their second child Eliza in 2016.

Family was EVERYTHING to him.

Unfortunately, in his line of work, conversations were had about “if something were to happen to me.” So because he loved space and Star Trek so much, having this option was a no-brainer. He would have absolutely loved this experience. The names of the flights, and other members that are going to be on this launch, it truly makes it that much more special.

Jason never met someone new and didn’t leave without making a new friend. He was such a social butterfly and had such an amazing impact on so many people.

Friends, colleagues, and everything in between always have the most amazing “Jason stories” that we now call “God winks.”

“Jason, not a second goes by that I don’t think of you. There’s also not a day that goes by that the kids and I don’t talk about you. We all miss you dearly, but we also know we will see you again one day. I Lover You (inside joke)”.  -Keira
