Hayden Michael Brackenbury of Olympia passed away on July 5, 2025. He was 30 years old.
Hayden was the husband of Halie Brackenbury and beloved father of Henry, Paisley, and Delainey. He is mourned by them, along with his parents, siblings, grandparents, and many, many family and friends.
Hayden graduated from Olympia High School and attended Columbia Basin College and Skagit Valley College. He loved playing baseball and golf. Hayden had a special affinity for the Boston Red Sox and once traveled to Boston just to take in a home game at Fenway Park. Shortly before his death, he attended a Mariners/Red Sox game with his wife, kids, mom & sister. It was a great day.
He was a talented artist. Combining his artistry with a career in landscape design and construction, he created a number of beautiful projects throughout the community.
Hayden loved his family and was well known to many as a kind-hearted and generous person. He always cared about people who didn’t or couldn’t stick up for themselves. He was kind to everyone. He was an excellent big brother to Cedric, Ava, and Lilly. He was a loving and deeply beloved son. He was a good husband and devoted father. He was a good man, and his loved ones will never, ever stop missing him.
Hayden loved animals and often had a menagerie of pets. Clara and Zoey, Vlad and Grizzly, Rhu and Murphy. The bunnies. His dream was to have an animal sanctuary in a quiet rural area so he could provide a good home to them all.
Hayden was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he attended until he graduated and left home. He is remembered and loved by many members of his church family, who have continued to honor him by serving the Community Dinners each month, as Hayden once did in high school.
Ernest Hemingway once said the world “kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too, but there will be no special hurry.” Hayden was good and gentle and brave, and those of us whom the world is in no special hurry for will miss and remember him every day until we meet again. Until then, he lives on forever in our hearts.
