Raised in the hills of the Bay Area, California. Learning to sail as a child with his father in San Francisco, he would carry that interest and passion forward in both his personal life and professional life, becoming both an Engineer in the 1980s, as well as a Pilot. Moving to Arizona in the 1990s, he would meet his wife of thirty years, Brenda, and soon after have his son Christopher. While he was always a major fan of space, a trip he would talk about for decades after was visiting Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as well as Johnson Space Center in Texas. Dan was a major fan of Science Fiction, with bookshelves full of Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clark, as well as being able to tell you in detail about episodes of the original Star Trek series, with 'Balance of Terror' as his favorite episode. Later in life, Dan followed the Rocket launch schedules of any organization that would stream it. Didn't matter what company or payload, he wanted to see them all.
Dan learned of Celestis a few months before his passing, and made it clear with no uncertain circumstances that it was his wish to participate.
Here's to you, Dad, we've given you the Universe.
