Daniel C. Ray, 48, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. Born May 26, 1977, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dan's life was marked by a devotion to family, faith, and a generosity of spirit.
Dan spent most of his childhood in Lebanon Indiana. He graduated from Ames High School in Ames, Iowa in 1995 and then attended Iowa State University before being recruited into a career in computer engineering at EAI. His journey then led him to Fidelity Investments which included a move to Texas where he met the love of his life, Marcy. The two married in Ames, Iowa on July 9, 2004, before starting their family, welcoming sons Jake, Weston, and Asher.
Moving to Raleigh in 2007, Dan left the corporate world in 2017 to pursue his dream of video game development. Masterplan Multimedia released "Astrela Starlight" in August of 2018. Dan then devoted his heart to service at Hope Community Church, serving as a Small Group Leader, a member of the Elder Development Cohort, and a member of the Production Team offering support wherever needed.
Dan was defined by his unwavering faith, devotion to family, compassion for others, and well-timed Dad jokes. Many may not be aware that Dan held a pilot's license and was also an Ordained Minister. He loved flying, HAM radio, tinkering with projects, restoring cars and home renovations. Dan always made others feel seen and valued.
Dan is survived by his wife Marcy; sons Jake, Weston, and Asher; parents Ronald Ray and Kathlene Larson (Richard); brother Chad Ray (Megan); and sister Christine Keck (Tim); brother-in-law Jack Craemer (Kara); brother-in-law Jon Knight; stepbrother Greg Bowers and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
