Carolyn J. Dodson

"To boldly go..."
1962 - 2020

Carolyn Jane Dodson of Hialeah, Fl passed away on December 24th, 2020. She is survived by her brother Frank G. Dodson, niece Taylor R. Dodson, sister, Ruth A. Dodson, and nephew Eddie Tanner. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth V. Dodson (2020), sister, Patricia J. Gerbec (2011) and father George R. Dodson (1999).

Born in 1962 in New York City, Carolyn spent most of her life in Hialeah. There, she held a long and successful career in banking, made friends with countless members of her community, and devoted herself to taking care of her family. In 2017, after 5 years spent commuting to and from Florida Atlantic University while simultaneously studying remotely, working full time, and serving as caretaker to her mom, Carolyn graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree. Her commitment to her education and desire to always continue learning and expand her understanding of the world around her was un-matched.

Carolyn was a fierce advocate for people she loved and was always there to help family, friends, and neighbors. She wasn’t afraid to make friends with anyone she met, no matter where she went. Carolyn also made it a point to enjoy her life as much as possible. Music, sci-fi, sports, and astronomy were just a few of the things she was most passionate about.

Carolyn’s love for space and Star Trek will live on with her spirit, as her ashes will be shuttled to deep space on the Celestis Enterprise Memorial Flight.
