Brian Larkin

"The past is written; the future is for us to write"
1959 - 2025

Brian Larkin passed away on June 22, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Brian was born in Bronxville, NY, on September 24, 1959. The youngest of John and Patricia Larkin’s six children. He joined the Army's 101st Airborne Division and was honorably discharged after injury during his service. He returned to school at Bard College and graduated from SUNY with a master’s degree in history. Afterward, he spent much of his life as a high school teacher at St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine, FL, beloved by all his students, but especially by his three daughters. During his tenure at SJA, he was awarded many honored educator (STAR) awards, nominated by his students, as well as Teacher of the Year. Brian had a positively special teaching gift of conveying historical details in ways that were truly memorable and deeply cherished. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and sharing history documentaries with his grandchildren.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia, and eldest brother, Arthur. He is survived by his siblings Peggy, John, Kevin, and Mary; his children Kathleen (T.J.), Meaghan (Michael), and Elly (George); and his grandchildren Addison, Reagan, and Christopher.

Brian will be remembered for his extensive storytelling, endless dad jokes, witty humor, and the fierce, unwavering love he held for his family. He will be truly missed by all he ever met and especially by those who called him "Pops" and "Poppa."
