Michael Allen Lambert

"Peace in the serenity of space"
1965 - 1997

Michael Allen Lambert was born on May 16, 1965 in Pasadena, California, to parents Richard and Alice (Summers) Lambert. Three years later a sister, Diana Lee, joined the family.

Mike (as he liked to be called) lived most of his life in Altadena, California. He graduated from John Muir High School in 1983. Mike enjoyed science fiction and was an avid Star Trek fan; having been introduced to the original Star Trek series by his mother. He could recite each episode word for word. He collected varies Star Trek memorabilia and attended Star Trek conventions whenever possible.

In December 1989, a star was named after him. The star is located in the Constellation Eridanus and recorded in the International Star Registry.

He worked in retail and as a security guard before obtaining a degree in Communications at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. He was so intrigued with the ship on Star Trek, that he elected to do a school project called "The Enterprise Legacy." This fulfilled a lifelong dream to find out as much as he could on the name "Enterprise." His favorite verse of poetry (which was used in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) is from John Masefield's "Sea-Fever": "-And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by."

On January 9, 1996, a son Darrien Lee arrived, making Mike a first time father. His talent to do voice changes became handy when reading stories to his son. He enjoyed writing poetry. Three of his poems are included: one for his son, one for a dear friend, and one was a favorite of his mother. He hoped that someday, his son would be as interested in space as he was. Mike died July 27, 1997.

SPACE ADVENTURE

Look into the night sky,
Only a small portion of stars we see .....
Our minds want to Explore further,
A telescope to look for many things, the cluster of galaxies,
Planets.
Inviting, begging us to explore.
The beautiful colors of space, many different textures to see.
So children look up,
And gaze towards the stars.

TIME

One waits, if for only a moment -
Or even a lifetime, for a true love to come.
Have we met in another life?
When two lost, souls were striving to reach one another
"From somewhere in time."
Who then is she?
An image I held in my mind's eye.
Where did she come from?
A dream from another place -
That I wish for, when I gaze up at the night sky.
I have loved no other -
For the stars are my love, and she is the stars.
In the fading light of a setting sun,
A silhouette of a woman I see.
Who walks alone on the beach,
While the waves thunder upon the shore.
I call out to you -
Take my hand; stay by my side, unmoving,
For time is too short and needs to be cherished.
Just like the ocean that reclaims the sand from a child's sandcastle.

The ROSE

From the beauty of the stars that,
shine in the night.
To the beauty of,
waves upon a seashore.
I give to you -
a token of my love.
In the everlasting beauty
